Hybernackle

the smell of nitrogen
is green chaos pummeling
through my head ~

my lungs feel like moss
could begin to grow inside them
if i were to forget for only a moment
that i am human, not plant or animal ~

tree limbs
assault my senses
with their cold arsenal
of stoic winter memories
now escaping into long
awaited warming hours ~

as daylight goes
clamor-whomping
into their root systems

now voraciously swilling
damp earth and harassing
night crawlers as the orgy
of easter grass humping,
throaty morning doves and
bobbing birdy heads begins ~

their treacherous frenzy
magics me into believing
i am a creature once again ~

i burrow deeper into
the cavernous depths of
blankets and pillows
dreaming i can
breathe water...
